Back  Basics

At Back 2 Basics, we do more than teach survival—we awaken it.

In this slowed, intentional process, students practice mindfulness in action—strengthening neural pathways tied to attention, organization, and goal-directed persistence.

Through hands-on skills like fire-starting, fishing, shelter building, harvesting, and real-world life skills, students unlock self-reliance while tapping into something deeper: purpose, focus, and connection.

Every moment out here trains the brain and the spirit. Executive function gets sharpened. Emotional regulation strengthens. Grit and persistence take root. These are learning experiences that stick long after the flame goes out.
